We are an imperfect humanity. Selfish, greedy, and cruel.
Sometimes we try our best but even that can be a far cry from who we are called to be.
How is it that Jesus hung on a cross in humiliation to save us?
It is astounding and beyond comprehension.

Jesus your sacrifice tells me of
the depth of love and mercy that you have for us
the depth of love and mercy that you have for me
i want to be filled with awe for you, love for you
and remember that what you give is sufficient
lead me to repentance and the realization that the salvation you offer is more than anything else in this world

wash away my dirt and draw me into the life you offer

remind me of the bigger picture:
that these hurts won't last forever and don't really matter
in the darkness of my own sin
and in the light of your mercy and grace
