In the morning, I dropped by Peoples to do some in-person recruiting and then when I got downtown, I got to hit the super crazy dollar store at Charles and Bloor because we were running low on loot bags for the kids who come and participate. I got PAID to go shopping. sw-e-e-e-e-et!!! Got to the lab at around 11:15 and then i sort of transcribed the rest of the work day away (but it was ok because there were volunteers in the lab so i wasn't so bored)
AND THEN, I met up with Ally after work because we had tickets to go to the Snow Patrol concert!!! (hah thanks trace!!!! wish you were there) I think the best part of that is that neither Ally nor I know a great deal about Snow Patrol but who can turn down free tickets right? Before the concert, we went to Marché and the food was so yummy. It really doesn't matter that I always get rice and honey garlic quarter chicken when I go, the novelty has NOT worn off at ALL. (and we shared a salad to feel healthy :) heehee) Both of us were so content after that meal because our little tummies were so filled.
At the concert, we had a great view of the stage because we were in the front row. That compensated for our lack of height - i think even if we were in the second row... well.. the band would have just looked like the backs of heads to me. Although I didn't actually know the music that well, there's just so much energy at a concert that makes you have a good time. The opening band was called athlete and they were pretty good. I think the favourite part of their set was when they sang their song with these lyrics in the chorus:
"it's getting hot in here
there must be something in the atmosphere
oh o-oh oh"
there must be something in the atmosphere
oh o-oh oh"
i started laughing so hard.. oh man.. not a lot of people can pull off a song with lyrics reminiscent of the cheerleader movie bring it on so the fact that athlete could.. WELL...!
Snow Patrol came on at 10:30 and it was GREAT :) Way better than the opening band even though Snow Patrol's singer told the audience, "Athlete was f*ing brilliant tonight." I tried to familiarize myself with Snow Patrol's latest album since Saturday after the clothing show with trace (which was also another highly successful endeavor but that's a different story) and only two songs really stuck. It was however rather convenient that the two songs that stuck are the two singles that they apparently released :) hah so i was a happy camper when they opened and closed the show with those two songs. YES! The rest of the set was pretty darn enjoyable too. There were a few songs that I recognized (so I could kind of groove along with them) and they played a new song of theirs that I really liked too. I don't remember the tune or really anything about the song except the chorus:

Don't let me get too high
Give me a reason

I think I may have liked it just because I could hear the words haha.. the other songs.. well.. i couldn't make out much of anything. But I think my favourite part of the show was when they played Run at the end of the show and everybody in the audience was singing along. Such a great song.
"Light up light up
As if you had a choice
Even if you do not hear my voice
I'll be right beside you my dear..."
SO in summary:
PROS of the concert - there was no pushing, no gum on my butt like there was at switchfoot, great view, played the two songs I knew, talked to a nice girl next to us, and they had nice lighting effects :)
